New Hampshire State Meet XC Recap 2020Published by
Sophomore Aidan Cox Breaks Course Record, Leads Coe-Brown To Repeat MOC Title By Mary Albl of DyeStat It was another historic day for the Cox family on Saturday at the New Hampshire Cross Country Meet of Champions. A week after both winning Division 2 individual and team titles for Coe-Brown, siblings Addison and Aidan Cox picked up right where they left off. Under the direction of Coe-Brown co-coach Tim Cox, who is their dad, the pair each clocked the fastest time of the day at Mines Falls Park in Nashua. In the boys race, Aidan dominated the 5,000-meter course in record fashion, clocking 14 minutes, 58.7 seconds to break the course record of 15:03.4 set in 2016 by Oyster River’s Patrick O’Brien. Last week at the divisional meet in Manchester running on snow, Aidan, just a sophomore, broke the state mark of 15:21, held by Portsmouth’s Cory Thorne and also broke the 2004 division record of 15:24 which was established by O’Brien. As a team, Coe-Brown was easily able to defend its title, placing three runners in the top four to score 29 points. Concord, the Division 1 NHIAA champion, was second with 81 points. In the girls race, Addison, a senior, who battled Lyme Disease a year ago, won the race in 18:01.1, 12 seconds faster than the next runner, Souhegan junior Chloe Trudel (18:13.54). The girls team title was a fight to the finish as Hanover senior Riley Roach’s fifth-place finish (19:06.22) helped guide her team to a one-point victory over Exeter, 104-105. Coe-Brown finished third.
